About Edward Kostka
Edward Kostka, a painter, graphic artist, and designer, born in 1935 in Ziemia Pszczynska, Plland. In 1953 - 1959 he studied at the HIgher Schol of Applied Arts in Wroclaw under the guidance of Professor Maria Dabrowska, Stanislaw Dawski, and Stanislaw Pekalksi., In the years 1960 - 1975 he produced numerous mural painting works. In 1960 he started regular cooperation with teh Ossolineum Publishing House and from 1973 to 1994 acted as art director there. His artistic output included graphic designs for numerous books and book series; he has designed over 600 hardcovers and dustcovers. He has won many awards and received honerable mentions in annual competitions for "the Most Beautiful Book of the Year" organized by the Polish SOciety of Book Publishers. He has participated in paiting and graphic exhibitions and his works are held in private collections in Poland, THe USA, Mexico, Great Britain, Austria, Germany, France, Spain, Switzerland, and Norway. Cince 1996 he has been cooperating with the Workers Society of Culture Creators ( RSTK) in Wroclaw. He participates as a consultant in plein-air painting workshopws organized by RSTK in Milkow and Miedzywodzie, offering his advice and help to non-professional and handicapped artists. Since 1959 he has been a member of the Union of Polish Artists and Designers (ZPAP).
